It's always a difficult decision in choosing the perfect name for your babies.  Melanie and I knew that regardless of the names, our kids would probably find them distasteful, and our parents would think that we were mentally unbalanced.  Only time will tell.

Scott wanted names that would reflect his Scot / Irish Ancestry since he has been working so fervently on his genealogy research.  We both liked the fact that each child had a different name (IAN and SEAN) which represented both countries of origin, but also that each name had the same meaning:  "JOHN".   Therefore, our twins could essentially have the same name.

Melanie agreed that we should use our father's names as middle names for the twins.

We added the "Well" portion to Max for a couple of reasons:  1st:  Kirk  is a "Sept" of the Scot clan "Maxwell";  2nd:  Scott's grandfather on his mother's side had the middle name "Wells"   3rd:  We wanted a two syllable name for IAN's middle name since his first name was so short.
